There *may* be Facebook applications that allow you to log in to your Gmail account possibly using IMAP or POP3 so you could read your mail through Facebook, but as services go, I wouldn’t touch that with a bargepole for a number of reasons.
I have this issue too and it is not just related to Gmail, it is related to the play store, chrome, google, and any google related apps as well.
